International Students
Flight Training in Canada is very popular since the costs are low compared to other contries in the world.
Study Permit
If you are planning to stay in Canada for less than 6 months you do not need a Study Permit. You can enter Canada as a Visitor. Depending on the country you are living in you might need a Visitor Visa. To check if you need one go to the official Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.
If planning to stay longer than 6 months you have to apply for a Study Permit at the Canadian Consulate in your country before coming to Canada. Learn more at www.cic.gc.ca.
Guardian Aerospace staff will help you with letters of recommendation if required to obtain your Permits.

Conversion to a Canadian Private Pilot License
Pilots who hold a valid ICAO pilot license are able to convert their license into a Canadian pilot license with little effort. There are two ways to convert your license:
1. Get a temporary Foreign License Validation Certificate (FLVC)
2. Get a full Canadian Private Pilot License (PPL-A)
1. Get a temporary Foreign License Validation Certificate (FLVC)
If you are coming to Canada as a visitor and want to fly for recreational purposes for a limited time you should apply for the FLVC. This certificate is valid for 1 year. Foreign pilots should apply before coming to Canada by filling out the application form and send it along with their pilot license, medical certificate and passport to one of Transport Canada’s Regional offices.
There is a licensing fee of $45 CDN applicable that may be paid by a certified cheque, money order or credit card number, the cheque should be made payable to ("The Receiver General for Canada"). You can also apply for this Certificate at the Transport Canada office in Prince George upon arrival.
If you are planning to fly in Canada more than just once choose the following option.
2. Get a full Canadian Private Pilot License (PPL-A)
To get a Canadian Private Pilot License there is a bit more work involved but still very straight forward. Just bring all your foreign certificates with you (Pilot License, valid Medical, English Language Proficiency, Personal Logbook,...) and you can convert your license upon arrival.

» An Aviation Language Proficiency Test (ALPT) in some cases. Available at our school!
» Meet the Transport Canada License Requirements for the PPL-A listed here!
